If selected, applicants will present their proposed projects in-person in Indianapolis.

ontogenesis

ontogenesis is a new, multimedia, durational performance by Lauren Curry, Lukas Schooler and Ventiko. ontogenesis illustrates complicated emotions of a ritualistic homecoming where old connections are mourned and new connections are celebrated. The pilgrimage fosters interconnectedness through a six hour journey of transformation by traveling the length of the Canal Walk while engaging with the public via performances.

The procession will begin at 11 a.m. at the Waterfalls on 11th street and end at 5 p.m. at White River State Park where the Canal Walk meets the White River. The public is invited to interact with and join the artists in their pilgrimage.

Amy Kligman and Ish Muhammad In Conversation

Learn more about two of the artists selecting this year’s Power Plant Grant recipients!

Amy Kligman has been the Executive Artistic Director at Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City, MO since 2015. Kligman’s career and experience as an exhibiting artist and grassroots curator/arts administrator spans 20 years of studio & exhibition work, independent curating and organizing, and artist-run projects. In 2011 Kligman was one of a team of 5 artist-curators who established Plug Projects, an artist-run project space in Kansas City’s West Bottoms that hosted a robust & nationally recognized calendar of exhibitions and artist-centered programming.

Ish Muhammad is a self-taught artist residing in Northwest Indiana. Muhammad’s work, post-graffiti abstract expressionism, is exhibited in galleries, museums, and site-specific installations nationally. He is a founding member of Crazy Indiana Style Artists (CISA). CISA is recognized as Indiana’s first Latino Art Collective.
